Along the coastline there are frequent changes in the shoreline due to the influence of marine hydro-oceanography. One of the areas in Indonesia that is prone to shoreline changes is the Manggar Baru beach in Manggar Baru Village, Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province. On the Manggar Baru beach, there are several beach locations that experience abrasion, but in some locations there are also beaches that have experienced an addition of sand sediment so that the shoreline changes from time to time. To anticipate changes in the shoreline on the Manggar Baru beach, an analysis of changes in the shoreline to the existing conditions is carried out in order to obtain which areas have abrasion and sedimentation accumulation. Provided various alternatives to anticipate damage to the Manggar Baru beach with various types of coastal protection structures to obtain which building type is the most appropriate to be applied in the area. The results of shoreline forecasting show that there is abrasion on the left and right and in the estuary area there is a buildup of sediment. To solve this problem, a shoreline forecasting simulation is carried out with the existence of a coastal protection structure. The selection of coastal safeguards is carried out by means of a matrix assessment with various assessment categories, namely the main function of the building, the process of ease of construction work, costs and ease in the maintenance process.
